Days of Caring
We’re connecting volunteers with not-for-profit organizations to help with projects to refresh their spaces and better serve their clients.
Join us in making a lasting impact throughout the year. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more vibrant community — one day of caring at a time.
How It Works
By offering multiple days of service throughout the year, we can better accommodate the schedules of volunteers and nonprofit organizations, ensuring continuous and meaningful community engagement. Here's how we plan to implement this enhanced initiative:
Flexible Scheduling: United Way will coordinate multiple Days of Caring throughout the year, allowing for greater participation and impact.
Variety of Projects: Projects can be scheduled as half-day (3 hours) or full-day (up to 6 hours) events, depending on the needs of the nonprofit agencies. This flexibility means that volunteers can engage in a wide range of activities, from traditional building and yard work to creative and specialized tasks that align with the agencies’ missions.
Continuous Submission: Nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies can submit volunteer projects at any time, with no limit on the number of projects proposed. This continuous submission process ensures that we always have a pipeline of opportunities available for volunteers eager to make a difference.

Project Guidelines & Info
You may submit as many volunteer projects as you want or need. There is no limit! Please complete one form per project and provide the coordinator's name and contact information.
Projects do not have to be traditional building and yard work projects. We encourage agencies to use their creativity to meet agency and community needs. Keep in mind you will be working with Adult volunteers who have a wide range of abilities.
Projects can be either half day (3 hours) and/or full day (up to 6 hours).
Agencies are exclusively responsible for their projects, the materials, the equipment and any permits necessary to complete their projects. Volunteers may agree to bring personal household items, such as rakes and garden gloves. A list of such items must be on your Project Request Form.
At no time should volunteers be asked to work with equipment that may prove dangerous. The use of heavy machinery and power equipment such as tractors, backhoes, chain saws, wood chippers, jack hammers etc. Volunteers may not climb a ladder or lift higher than 5 feet.
Agencies must be able to provide restrooms and refreshments for volunteers. Lunch should also be provided for full day (6 hour) volunteers.
