United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties Announces 2024 Allegany County Grant Awards

United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties is pleased to announce the awarding of grants totaling $170,540 to 19 service organizations within Allegany County.

These grants aim to support community resiliency, youth programs, health initiatives, and financial security efforts in the region.

“We are committed to supporting the invaluable work of these organizations,” Sue McAuley, Executive Director, said. “Their programs and services are essential to the well-being of our community, and we are proud to contribute to their ongoing efforts.”

These grants, made possible by generous donations from residents and businesses, will support a wide range of programs enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families throughout the county.

The 2024 grant recipients in Allegany County and their respective funded projects are as follows:

  • Allegany County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired for its handicapped low vision clinic

  • Allegany County Community Opportunities and Rural Development, Inc. (ACCORD) for its ACCESS Center

  • Allegany County Mental Health Association for its youth compeer program

  • Allegany Senior Foundation’s Senior Nutrition Program and the Life Station - Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS)

  • Allegheny Highlands Council, BSA to support scouting in Allegany County

  • American Red Cross Western New York Chapter for Disaster Cycle Services

  • Ardent Solutions’ First Step Family Resource Center

  • Belfast Public Library for the Building a Better Belfast campaign

  • Catholic Charities Joyce Family Food Pantry & Outreach support

  • Catholic Charities of Buffalo for its Emergency Financial Assistance program

  • Cuba Circulating Library Association’s Summer Learning Program

  • Family Service Society, Inc. for mentoring services in Whitesville

  • Fillmore Powerhouse Youth Center Inc. for its Afterschool and Summer Recreation/Free Lunch programs

  • Home Care & Hospice’s Empowering End of Life program

  • Houghton Royal Family Kids Camp’s 2024 summer camp

  • Literacy West NY, Inc. to support TransportEd

  • Southern Tier Traveling Teacher, Inc. for its ABE/HSE program

  • The Salvation Army, Wellsville’s Emergency Food Pantry and Emergency Shelter programs

  • Trinity Christian Daycare to support scholarships

  • YMCA of the Twin Tiers for its Character Champions Summer Program
