Community Day: Making a Difference One Paper at a Time
Mark your calendars – Friday morning June 7 is about to make our community brighter!
Dozens of enthusiastic volunteers will be out in force on the streets of Olean, Allegany, and Salamanca, selling special editions of the Olean Times Herald. What’s the occasion? United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties’ annual Community Day!
Starting at 6 a.m., volunteers stationed at major intersections will sell a special edition – shining a spotlight on the work United Way’s funded agencies are doing – for just $1.
Last year, Community Day raised nearly $3,600 for United Way. At only $1 per paper, that number represents a lot of sales and donations, as well as many community residents being helped by the funds raised.
Overall, the day isn’t about selling papers; it’s about showcasing the impact of your generosity.
The funds raised go directly to supporting the charitable and service programs in our community, including organizations like Special Olympics, Legal Assistance of Western New York, Genesis House, and many more.
And while we’re crossing our fingers for good weather, rain or shine, we’ll be out there, spreading positivity and making a difference.
Whether you’re a regular supporter or new to Community Day, we invite you to buy a paper Friday June 7. Your support not only helps us raise vital funds but also allows us to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
“Every year, we are amazed at the generosity of the community during this event,” says Susan McAuley, executive director. “We want to thank the community for their continued support!”
Help us make this Community Day better than ever – early June 7 watch for our volunteers at major intersections, and don’t forget to grab your copy of the special edition.
Together, we can create positive change and build a stronger, more vibrant community for all.
