Announcing UWCAC’s 2024 Cattaraugus County Grant Awards

United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties is proud to announce the allocation of $75,700 in grant funding to 15 community agencies in Cattaraugus County. 

These grants, made possible by generous donations from residents and businesses, will support a wide range of programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families throughout the county.

"We are incredibly grateful to our donors whose contributions enable us to fund these essential programs," Sue McAuley, Executive Director, said. "These grants reflect our commitment to ensuring that the funds raised in our communities are reinvested locally to address the most pressing needs. Put simply: raised here, stays here."

The 2024 grant recipients in Cattaraugus County and their respective funded projects are as follows:

  • Allegheny Highlands Council, BSA for scouts programming

  • American Red Cross WNY Chapter for disaster cycle services

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier for the Be-A-Friend mentoring program

  • Bona Buddies through St. Bonaventure University for program support

  • Catholic Charities of Buffalo for emergency financial assistance for those in need

  • CBA Vision Rehabilitation Services for its youth vision screening program

  • Directions In Independent Living, Inc. for youth activities and the Empowerment program

  • Genesis House of Olean, Inc. for operating support

  • Girl Scouts of Western New York for the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) program in Cattaraugus County

  • HomeCare & Hospice for the Empowering End of Life Education project

  • Interfaith Caregivers for the 2024 Gift Tree program

  • Legal Assistance of Western NY to support legal assistance for victims of domestic violence

  • Olean Food Pantry for the Building Food Security: A Decade of Stocked Shelves campaign

  • Special Olympics New York, Inc. for 2024 Cattaraugus County program support

  • The Warming House through St. Bonaventure University for program support

The diverse array of programs funded through these grants highlights the United Way's dedication to addressing critical needs across various sectors, including youth development, emergency assistance, education, and health services.
