Expanding Our Impact: Introducing Days of Caring

We are thrilled to announce an exciting evolution in our community engagement efforts – United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties is transforming our Day of Caring into Days of Caring, a flexible, year-round initiative designed to better accommodate the schedules of both our volunteers and partner organizations.

Why the Change?

While this event has been successful in other communities, we’ve heard from many of you about the challenges of fitting meaningful volunteer work into a single day.

By spreading our Days of Caring throughout the year, we aim to:

  • Increase Flexibility: By offering multiple days of service, volunteers can choose dates that best fit their personal and professional schedules. This flexibility ensures that more people can participate and contribute to our community’s needs.

  • Support Ongoing Projects: Nonprofit organizations often have projects that require attention beyond a single day. Year-round volunteering allows us to provide consistent support to these vital initiatives, ensuring more sustained and impactful contributions.

  • Address Varied Needs: The needs of our community and nonprofit partners can change throughout the year. With multiple Days of Caring, we can be more responsive and proactive, addressing these needs as they arise.

How It Works

Our new approach to Days of Caring is designed to maximize flexibility and impact. By offering multiple days of service throughout the year, we can better accommodate the schedules of volunteers and nonprofit organizations, ensuring continuous and meaningful community engagement. Here's how:

Flexible Scheduling

Organizations and volunteers will no longer need to fit their commitments into a single day. Instead, we will coordinate multiple Days of Caring throughout the year, allowing for greater participation and impact.

Variety of Projects

Projects can be scheduled as half-day (3 hours) or full-day (up to 6 hours) events, depending on the needs of the nonprofit agencies. This flexibility means that volunteers can engage in a wide range of activities, from traditional building and yard work to creative and specialized tasks that align with the agencies’ missions.

Continuous Submission

Nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies can submit volunteer projects at any time, with no limit on the number of projects proposed. This continuous submission process ensures that we always have a pipeline of opportunities available for volunteers eager to make a difference.

Get Involved

We invite all nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies in Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties to submit their projects for our Days of Caring. Volunteers, whether individuals, families, or corporate groups, are encouraged to sign up for these rewarding opportunities to give back to the community.

Join us in making a lasting impact throughout the year. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more vibrant community – one day of caring at a time.
